Professional Experience

Samuel is a Tax Partner at Grant Thornton Kenya and has experience spanning more than 22 years -19 Years in Grant Thornton, offering; accounting, tax compliance and advisory services.

He has extensive experience in VAT, Personal Income Tax, and Corporate Tax, and has provided advisory and compliance services in various sectors (financial sector, hospitality, trading, shipping, insurance, agriculture, and manufacturing).

He has assisted a number of multinational clients in tax-efficient re-structuring as well as due-diligence assignments.

Additionally, Samuel has resolved tax audit issues raised by the Revenue Authorities on behalf of his clients having built important relationships within these authorities. Samuel is involved in reviewing tax assessments, challenging the findings of KRA on local tax laws and practices. He is also the lead in exploring alternative dispute resolution or appeal at the Tribunal level.

Samuel is a member of ICPAK’s Public Finance and Tax committee and has lobbied the Kenyan government for tax law changes to align with business practices, promoting development and investment. He has actively provided submissions to the government in various key issues at ICPAK and Grant Thornton Level.

He has skills and experience in reviewing client operations and identifying regulatory changes required to enable entities to compete at international markets, conducting comparative analysis of the regulatory framework in East Africa and formulating best practices to be adopted.
